British Spanish Society Centenary Conference with the support of Canning House & The Instituto Cervantes

Presentation of the history of the British Spanish Society and lively and challenging discussion about what each country has learnt to like about each other since 1916.

With Professor Paul Preston (Director of the Cañada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies and Hispanist at the London School of Economics), Luis G.Martinez del Campo (author- Cultural Diplomacy: A Hundred Years of history of the British-Spanish Society), Ana Romero (author and journalist-senior columnist El Español), Chris Bryant MP (hispanophile Labour Party politician, Shadow Leader of the House of Commons after previously serving as Shadow Minister for the Arts and Minister of State for Europe. ), John Carlin (Anglo-Spanish author and senior writer with El Pais), Miles Johnson (Financial Times journalist, FT Madrid Correspondent 2011-2014) and chaired by Jimmy Burns (author, journalist and chairman of the BritishSpanish Society).
